Hailing from the culinary traditions of the Ainu people of Hokkaido, the Robatayaki, the customary ‘fireside cooking’, is a timeless Japanese creation whose humbled simplicity within the culinary world has now arrived in Riyadh, with the grand opening of Robata. Located at The Canopy, boasting an incredible, not-to-be-missed al fresco terrace, Robata will show you why its excellence is all in its name.

Brought to you by the renowned creators and talented management and culinary team behind Myazu, Robata seeks to present traditional Asian fare on par with 21st century creativity, showcasing the robata’s charcoal cooking methods, championing sharing plates and their famed robata skewers. As you enter Robata, you are presented with an enormous counter, spread with an abundance of various meat of the land – along with beautifully displayed ingredients. Robata’s technique of cooking over flames, while using solid binchotan charcoal, produces dramatic and smoky flavours on exceptional cuts of meat.

Robata pays tribute to the Japanese roots of having a family gathered around a Centre point to enjoy dishes, meant to be shared. With a large interior space, Robata’s outdoor terrace is the spot to be, undoubtedly becoming one of the best terraces offering the very best views of Riyadh.


Robata showcases and delivers contemporary flavours with centuries- old traditions to create dishes that are memorable and delicious, yet authentic. With the grill at the Centre of the action here, the welcome is warm, the flavours strong and the food true to its robata-inspired origins.
